At 10.00 on Sunday 24 Jan 10 Poole Hockey Club hosted an U12 festival for the County At Ashdown Leisure Centre. Eight teams were entered representing 5 different clubs. In addition to the two Poole teams there were two from both Bournemouth and Gillingham as well as one each from Weymouth and Blandford & Sturminster Newton. Over 70 junior players attended in total. There were boys, girls and mixed teams of all of different standards entered.
 
The weather was kind and after the team mangers briefing the matches got under way.  The changeovers were swift thanks to the efficient organisation of the team managers and coaches. Each team played a minimum of 5 games.
 
Poole fielded two sides of similar strength managed by Nigel Taylor and Paul Souter who were supported by Ashley Llewellyn as our umpire.
 
There was an excellent atmosphere and teams shared goalkeepers and the occasional player where necessary to ensure all the players got maximum time on the pitch. We had over 2 hours of hockey packed with goals, skill and determination, not to mention buckets of fun and enjoyment.
 
Encouraged by a good number of spectators all the teams worked extremely hard producing some excellent junior hockey. By the time the last game came to a close there were some tired but satisfied young hockey players.

I would like to thank all of the other clubs for participating and the Poole players and managers for their assistance and look forward to the next festival.

Poole Hockey Club has adopted the England Hockey Safeguarding and Protecting policies Our Junior section continues to grow and the welfare of all our members is essential to the healthy future of the club. I am sure you will all join me in thanking Graham for volunteering for this role and give him your total support

We are proud to announce that Elliott Mills from our youth squad (Dolphins) is now a member of the England Single System Junior Regional Performance Centre and been confirmed as a member of the Exeter Leopards.
